Crochet School with Craftyminx

The thought of hauling out my basket of crochet and getting on with more granny squares for my blanket is, frankly, a horrid idea right now. Durban is averaging 35 degrees, with humidity that is really taking it out of all of us. We ate ice cream for lunch yesterday. We'll probably do it again today. Nevertheless, I know that if I don't get on and make a bunch more granny squares, it'll be ANOTHER year before I have my home-crocheted blanky, and I just don't think I can pull that off. So I'm keeping thumbs held for some cool evenings coming up. In the meantime, I'm pinning lots of lovely crochet ideas, and going through the fabulous Crochet School lessons over at Craftyminx.

DIY Doily Lace Bowl

Here is a nice quick project for the weekend. Found at Heart Handmade - she has a fab tutorial on this easy DIY. I would use wood glue - I am not sure we have the PVA glue she is talking about here in SA, or maybe it is the same thing with a different name.

Lamb Chop Pattern

The serendipity of life astounds me sometimes. I (Bronwen) have been up in JHB for the last few days, visiting with friends and doing a little thrifting, while sweet Sam has been holding fort, blogging for two. On my wanderings I came across a delightful vintage lamb chop knitting pattern which I just knew Sam would love. You can imagine my surprise when I saw her post about Lamb Chop. Obviously the original pattern goes to Sam, but I thought I would share it with you too. It is copyright of Patons & Baldwins Ltd 1975. I have posted the images at a higher res than usual so that if you click and save them they will print out at a readable A4. Enjoy and please share the results if any of you actually get around to making him.

Doily love in the extreme

I am sure you have already seen the amazing artwork of Joana Vasconcelos, but just in case you have not...

Lark

When we were in Australia this year we stumbled upon the most fabulous shop. There is a physical version, but the on-line version is just as good. The name of the shop is LARK, and these are a few e.g.s of the lovely things they stock. My wonderful husband bought the storybook duck lamp as a night light for the boys.
