The Seed Cathedral

I am sure you have all seen this amazing structure, but just in case you have not yet:
Thomas Heatherwick's Uk Pavilion for the 2010 Shanghai Expo is an amazing 20 meter high building constructed from 60 000 transparent optical strands, each of which has embedded within its tip a seed. The interior is silent and illuminated only by the daylight that has filtered past each seed through the optical hair. This structure references the race to save seeds from around the world in banks.
The Cathedral has now been dismantled with some rods donated to schools, some donated to the world expo museum and others auctioned for charity.
